We designed a lactosylated photocage prodrug that self-assembles into nanoparticles BT-LRCs for type I photodynamic therapy and camptothecin (CPT) chemotherapy. Under the regulation of lactose units, BT-LRCs exhibited aggregation-induced emission behavior and remarkable superoxide anion radical (O2⋅) generation efficiency, and CPT was subsequently released upon light irradiation. This strategy collaboratively amplified the therapeutic effect in HepG2 cells and tumor-bearing mice.
