Four solution-processable emitters utilizing hyperconjugation effect with a novel core structure spiro[1,8-diazafluorene-9,2′-imidazole] were synthesized and their excited state characters were investigated by abundant theoretical calculations. The solution-processed OLEDs all achieved maximum external quantum efficiency (EQEmax) of higher than 8 %, wherein the device based on 4′,5′-bis(4-(9H-carbazol-9-yl)phenyl)spiro[1,8-diazafluorene-9,2′-imidazole] (NFIP-CZ) gained a record-high EQEmax of 11.94 % and a ultra-deep-blue CIE coordinate of (0.1581, 0.0422).
