Aqueous electrolytes containing multivalent ions have been studied extensively in post-lithium electrochromisms. This work proposes that the Wadsley-Roth phase Nb18W16O93 achieves a reversible Al3+ intercalation/extraction. Electrochromic energy storage devices based on Nb18W16O93 with Prussian blue using a hybrid Al3+/K+ aqueous electrolyte show fast response and large coloring efficiency due to the synergistic effect of Al3+ and K+.
