A selective oxidation strategy based on the strong antioxidative property of Se arising from the lanthanide-like contraction achieve both the purification of Se and the deposition of Se film simultaneously. Photovoltaic devices constructed using these Se films exhibit an efficiency of 20.1 % under 1000-lux indoor illumination and demonstrate minimal efficiency degradation after 20,000 hours of storage in an ambient atmosphere.
