A novel ideal one-dimensional (1D) S=5/2 chain antiferromagnetic compound [H2(4,4′-bpy)](H3O)2Fe2F10 (4,4′-bpy=4,4′-bipyridyl) is obtained by single-step hydrothermal method at low temperature by intentionally pronating 4,4′-bpy ligand. The obtained compound exhibits no magnetic long-range ordering down to 0.5 K, showing the best 1D magnetism to date.
