A quasi-gas phase system is proposed to improve the mass transfer rate during the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) process. The typical feature of this system is that the main site of HER is transferred from the bulk aqueous solution to the gas phase environment. As a result, the overpotential required in HER process at high current density is reduced remarkably.
