In this report, fullerene C60 induces spontaneous reduction of metal ions and deposition of metal clusters, achieving the synthesis of fullerene-supported metal cluster catalysts through a pretreatment-free and reductant-free process. The strong multiple anchoring points on the surface of C60 promote the stabilization and small size distribution of metal clusters.
