A comprehensive review on biogas production from food waste: Exploring cutting-edge technologies and innovations

Renewable energy sources have recently received a lot of attention for their potential to manage and dispose of organic waste, including food waste, in a way that is environmentally conscious. An important method for handling and processing food waste and organic waste is anaerobic digestion. Biogas plants serve as both a source of electricity and fertiliser while simultaneously preserving the environment. An overview of technology and research findings for the creation of biogas from food waste provided in this contribution. This review presents a thorough examination of studies that illustrate the many conversion techniques tried across the world. A presentation of the biogas production resources, and treatment options is made. It is underlined how several regulating factors, such as feedstock kinds, pre-treatment techniques, process development, and yield, can improve biogas production. Applications of biogas in heating, producing energy, and transportation, for instance, are highlighted, along with their global share based on national and international statistics. The article's originality lies in its explanation of cutting-edge developments that have a considerable chance of making significant contributions to this discipline soon.
