A Single-Switch Dual-Constant-Output Class-E Inverter With A Coupled-Inductor Design

This article presents a single-switch dual-output class-E inverter with a coupled-inductor design. By using integrated series and parallel resonant techniques, a constant voltage (CV) output and a constant current (CC) output can be obtained. Moreover, the decoupling between the two outputs is achieved through the coupled-inductor design, which ensures zero voltage switching (ZVS) within a wide working region. Thus, high operating frequency with lower losses is possible. Unlike conventional class-E inverters, this innovative design offers both CC and CV outputs with only one power switch so that it is adaptable for diverse load types in multioutput scenarios and CC-CV switching applications. Experimental results at the operating frequency of 1MHz are provided to validate the effectiveness of the proposed class-E inverter. The maximum measured circuit efficiency achieves 95.2%.
