Suzuki-Miyaura Cross-Coupling using convenient and accessible Nickelocene/Phosphine precatalyst

We describe the applicability of a nickelocene/phosphine system as a versatile precursor of catalytically active complexes in Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling. The most popular commercially available phosphines were tested. Two sets of reaction conditions were developed depending on the nature of boronic acid. The described methods work for both bromide and chloride electrophiles. Nickelocene/phosphine precatalyst was successfully applied in the synthesis of various biaryl derivatives, including structures with two heteroaromatic rings coupled together.
