Inverse type diarylethenes are synthesized to diversify the emission colors in crystalline state. The crystals exhibited various emission colors from blue, green, yellow to red depending on the molecular structure. The change in the emission color of the crystal was caused by shortening of the π conjugation length and intramolecular charge transfer properties, as well as intermolecular interactions such as CH-π interaction.
