This work innovatively utilizes compositional engineering to tailor octahedra, achieving a dimensional evolution in metal-free perovskites, and reports on metal-free perovskites with a two-dimensional structure for the first time. With the evolution in dimensions, there is a significant variation in their fluorescence and X-ray detection capabilities. Importantly, the 2D SC-based X-ray detector achieved an ultra-low LOD of 12.2 nGyair s−1.
