A strategy for the preparation of iron carbide catalysts with high activity by pyrolysis was proposed, and the effects of different temperatures and atmospheres on the active components were elucidated. The catalyst produced by pyrolysis is conducive to the formation of more active phases, and the iron particles are uniformly dispersed, which endow them with excellent selective to light olefins.
