A novel NaB3H8 ⋅ xNH3@NaB3H8 composite electrolyte, composed of the disordered NaB3H8 ⋅ xNH3 and the ordered NaB3H8, was rapidly synthesized from the sticky NaB3H8 ⋅ NH3 after the partial removal of NH3 at room temperature and successfully used at rates above 1 C in a solid-state sodium metal battery. This work opens a new group of solid electrolytes with high ionic conductivity and excellent interfacial stability for high-rate sodium metal batteries.
