4-Aryl-4-oxo-2-(thiophen-2-ylamino)but-2-enoates bearing a cyano functional group at the thiophene ring were synthesized by the reaction of the corresponding substituted 3-(thiophen-2-ylamino)-3H-furan-2-ones with primary alcohols. Evaluation of biological activity and acute toxicity of the synthesized esters revealed their pronounced anti-inflammatory effect and low toxicity.
