An environmentally benign supporting electrolyte-free oxo-amination of 2H-indazole has been developed for the synthesis of symmetrical indazolylindazolones via electrochemical reduction of aerial oxygen. Simultaneously, unsymmetrical coupling products were efficiently produced by cross-dehydrogenative coupling between indazolone and 2H-indazole derivatives through electrochemical C−N bond formation.
