Donor–Acceptor based 2,3-di(pyridin-2-yl)pyrido[2,3-b]pyrazine amine derivatives are synthesized featuring ICT transition with emission in blue–orange region in solution and solid state. HOMO and LUMO energy level of dyes comparable with reported ambipolar materials. Dyes have potential applications in organic electronics.
