A series of substituted 6-(Hydroxymethyl)-8-oxo-4,8-dihydropyrano[3,2-b]pyran derivatives were synthesized. All compounds were screened for their tyrosinase inhibtory and free radical scavenging activities. Compound 1 was the most potent tyrosinase inhibitor (IC50=52.1 μM). Compound 2 was discovered as a tyrosinase inhibitor (IC50=80.7 μM) having remarkable free radical scavenging activity (EC50=15.3 μM).
