Axially chiral heterobiaryl featuring indole framework are promising structure in pharmaceutically active molecule, many natural product, and asymmetric catalysis field. Thus, a variety of protocols have been realized for the construction these challenging scaffolds with C–C, C–N, and N–N chiral axes. So far, a series of reviews on the synthesis of axially chiral compounds have been reported. However, atroposelective construction of indole subunit was rarely disclosed. Herein, we summarized the recent advance in atroposelective synthesis of axially chiral heterobiaryl featuring indole skeleton dividing these strategies into four categories. This review mainly discussed the related mechanism, scope, and application.
