Construction of Low-Coordination Cu−C2 Single-Atoms Electrocatalyst Facilitating the Efficient Electrochemical CO2 Reduction to Methane

Utilizing the special structure of 1,3,5-triynylbenzene, Cu single atom catalysts with a Cu−C2 coordination structure were prepared for the first time and showed excellent performance in the electrochemical reduction of CO2 (e-CO2RR) process. Comprehensive experiments and calculations confirmed that the Cu−C2 structure not only endowed the Cu single atoms center with more positive charge, but also promoted the formation of H⋅, which improved the electrocatalytic performance of CO2RR to CH4.
