Numerical Simulation of the Laser Welding of Porous and Monolithic Titanium Plates

Abstract

The nonstationary processes that occur during laser butt welding of a plate made of porous titanium and a plate of monolithic (nonporous) titanium are numerically simulated. The influence of the position of a laser beam relative to the surfaces to be welded on the quality of the resulting joint and the geometric characteristics of the weld is considered. The calculated parameters of the welded joints of the porous and monolithic plates are in satisfactory agreement with the results of physical experiments.
