Non-contact and high-contrast visible aromatic amine sensing in a hydrogen-bonded organic framework (HOF) is reported for the first time. Direct observation of host–guest co-crystal structures is achieved, revealing a conversion from charge transfer to charge separation assisted by both the stereo molecular core and H⋅⋅⋅O interactions with nitro groups, further making this HOF a multifunctional platform for versatile applications.
