Polymetallic oxygen cluster intercalated expanded graphite for selective oxidation of methacrolein to methacrylic acid

How to prepare efficient and stable supported POMs catalysts is the key to improve the catalytic efficiency of POMs. In this work Cs+ and Cu2+ doped phosphomolybdenum vanadium acid has been inserted into the crevice of expanded graphite for the catalytic oxidation of methacrolein to methacrylic acid. The supported POMs show excellent acidity and oxidability due to the good dispersion of POMs crystals and interactions between POMs and expanded graphite that expanded graphite can draw electrons from POMs. The catalytic activity has been improved for 8 times and methacrylic acid selectivity has been increased more than 20%. Unlike other supported POMs, expanded graphite supported POMs shows good catalytic stability. This work shows an easy way to prepared efficient supported POMs for catalytic oxidation.
