The catalyst Cu2O with abundant (110) facets prepared with the aid of trace amounts of the ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium ([Bmim]BF4) gives rise to high-efficient CO2 electroreduction to C2 products. This represents a new way to enhance the selectivity in CO2 electroreduction on Cu2O by crystal structure engineering.
