Water is demonstrated as an innovative co-reactant in the luminol electrochemiluminescence system for the first time, where cobalt-iron layered double hydroxide is afforded as an advanced co-reaction accelerator to efficiently catalyze the oxidation of water for the generation of reactive oxygen species, achieving the enhancement of electrochemiluminescence emission for sensitive biosensing.
