Two Ir(III) complexes with similar structures exhibited different anticancer mechanisms. Ir1 selectively accumulated in mitochondria and induced mitochondrial-mediated apoptosis in A549R cells. Ir2 translocated from mitochondria to the nucleus and induced necroptosis in A549R cells.
