High-voltage lithium metal batteries pose severe challenges for the matching of electrolytes with electrodes. The modified electrolyte in this work shows excellent stability against highly active lithium metal anode and aggressive high-voltage cathode. It presents great potential for practical use considering fire retardancy and low-temperature tolerance, ensuring a long life span without safety hazards even under extreme conditions.
