Synergy of Pt Single Atom and Clusters toward Selective Glycerol Oxidation

We combine the affinity of Pt nanoparticles to oxygen-containing groups and the strong activity of Pt single atoms to C−H activation, and prepared a 0.2%Ptatom–1.0%Ptcluster/CeO2 catalyst, which gave a high glycerol conversion of 90.9% with a high glyceric acid selectivity of 83.2% under mild reaction conditions (T=100 °C, O2 flow of 5 mL min−1, and non-alkaline).
