Double the fun: Dual-ion batteries (DIBs) have attracted widespread attention due to their unique energy storage mechanism. They are also inexpensive and environmentally friendly, making them a feasible choice for future large-scale energy storage. This Review explains the working principle of DIBs as well as the progress of cathode/anode materials, electrolytes, and improvement strategies.
