A novel 2-bromo-5-(2-(methylthio)phenyl)thiophene compound generated selective cytotoxicity on LnCap, Caco-2 and HepG2 lines but not on the control cell line HEK293. This derivative is proposed to have regulatory and/or rousing outcomes in apoptosis signaling pathways via changes in caspase3, Bcl-2 and Bax expressions related with GSH pool and GST activities. It has antibacterial activity against S.aureus, too.
