Open-framework scandium phosphate-oxalates: Solvent-free synthesis, proton conduction, and luminescence

Two crystalline open-framework scandium phosphate-oxalates, formulated as C4N2H14∙Sc2(HPO4)(H2PO4)2(C2O4)2·3H2O (1) and C6N2H18∙Sc2(HPO4)3(C2O4)∙H2O (2), were prepared by solvent-free metho using N-methyl-1,3-propanediamine and N,N-diethylethylenediamine as the structure-directing agents, respectively. They have different three-dimensional structures with intersecting 8-, 8- and 12-ring channels. Compound 1 shows temperature-dependent proton-conductive behaviors. Compound 2 emits blue luminescence upon 365 nm UV light irradiation at room temperature. The second-harmonic generation response of this compound was also investigated.
