N-acylhydrazones were successfully synthesized by solid-state melt reactions of aromatic aldehydes with 2-furoic hydrazide, 2-thiophenecarboxylic acid hydrazide or substituted alkyl/aryl-acylhydrazides. No catalysts and solvents were needed for the reaction. Compared to previously reported methods, our method gives higher product yields and has faster reaction times. It could be scaled up and has high atom economy, high reaction mass efficiency, low E-factor, and low process mass intensity. These encourage green chemistry principles and sustainable synthetic chemistry.
