An unprecedented self-reporting activated ester-amine reaction, which relies on the cis-transoid to cis-cisoid helical transition of a polyphenylacetylene backbone, triggers fluorescence. Owing to the high sensitivity and selectivity, this self-reporting process can provide multi-channel visual detection of structurally diverse achiral and chiral amines.
