Charge Transfer. A series of push-pull systems comprised of phenothiazine dimers and strong electron acceptors, TCBD or DCNQ, have been newly synthesized and characterized by a suite of physicochemical methods. The significance of phenothiazine dimer in the push-pull systems in promoting wide-band optical capture into the near-IR region, and facilitating ultrafast photoinduced charge transfer as a function of donor-acceptor distance and solvent polarity is presented.
