The example of PtIV nanoparticles that could be excited within the NIR region at 808 nm is reported. The complex was functionalized with a photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy and nucleus/cancer-targeting peptides which self-assemble into nanoparticles. Upon irradiation, the PtIV center is reduced to PtII, presenting a multimodal treatment by chemotherapy and photodynamic immunotherapy.
