Hustle and grind: The present review provides a discussion on the recent trends in the sustainable conversion of biomass to functional materials using mechanochemistry in dry/wet medium, with ball milling, extrusion, and ultrasounds techniques. This review starts by an analysis of physiochemical properties of biomass followed by a description of mechanochemical techniques to finish off with an overview of the syntheses of functional materials from biomass using various mechanochemical techniques.
