Stibine [L(Cl)Ga]₂SbCl reacts with N-heterocyclic carbenes ^RNHC^Me to either ^RNHC^Me-coordinated distibenes L(Cl)Ga]SbSb(^RNHC^Me)Ga(Cl)L ((^RNHC^Me=Me, Et, i-Pr) or stibinidenes L(Cl)GaSb-^RNHC^Me (^RNHC^Me=Me, Et) after Sb−Sb bond cleavage. Energies of the products and possible reaction intermediates were calculated by DFT methods.
