Ammonium pertechnetate is reduced to a green technetium(V) complex when left in triflic acid, while yellow pertechnetyl triflate and a purple TcVI species form as intermediates. In the presence of excess pertechnetate, the ammonium salt of a pertechnetato–oxotechnetate, can be isolated.
