Changing all those chains: Three imide-based molecules (NA, NAA, and NEA) are synthesized in two steps from imide units and different amine side-chains. NEA, with ethylenediamine side-chains, proves most effective. Organic solar cells with NEA as cathode interlayer afforded power conversion efficiencies of 15.04 % and 15.80 % for binary and ternary blends, respectively.
