Faculty Re-enactment Videos as a Tool in Simulation Debriefing

Abstract Background This article explores prelicensure baccalaureate nursing students’ experiences with the use of faculty re-enactment videos as a supplement to debriefing after high-fidelity simulation. Method A qualitative descriptive design was used to explore student perceptions and experiences with the use of faculty re-enactment videos as part of debriefing. Focus groups were conducted, using a semistructured interview format with six guiding questions to lead the discussion. Results and Conclusions Three major themes emerged: making connections, bringing it to a close, and faculty as “real” nurses. Results support the use of faculty video re-enactments of simulations as a supplemental debriefing tool.
