An inorganic-organic hydrogen cluster: fluorescence response of the high efficient detection of Fe3+, OH− and nitro explosives

Abstract A novel supra-molecular compound [Zn(C4H2N2S)4]2•(SiF6)•(BF4)2 (1) was synthesized by the reaction of 2-mercapto-1-methylimi-dazole and Zn(NO3)2•6H2O. Structural analysis indicates that the compound 1 shows a novel 3D supra hydrogen cluster network structure. The luminescent behavior for the compound 1 has been investigated at room temperature. Results show that compound 1 can be used as a chemical sensor for detecting Fe3+, OH− and five kinds of nitro explosives due to the strong fluorescence property. In particular, the compound 1 exhibits an excellent detection efficiency of 4-nitroaniline (PNN). At last, we researched the mechanism of the quenching effect.
