Modern Pathology is an international journal owned by the United States & Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP). Modern Pathology aims to provide an authoritative platform for publishing the highest quality clinical and translational research studies in pathology.

Original manuscripts are the main focus of Modern Pathology. Our scientific communication is enriched by high impact editorials, reviews, and practice guidelines that relate to all aspects of precision diagnostics in human pathology. As such, Modern Pathology's scope encompasses advances in the molecular diagnostics and genomic classifications of disease as well as discoveries in immune-oncology, computational science and applied bioinformatics, and digital pathology.

Editor-in-Chief

John N. Eble MD, MBA is the Nordschow Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Professor and Chairman, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Indiana University School of Medicine.

Professor Eble received a BS from Indiana University in 1973, and an MD from Indiana University in 1976. He trained in pathology at Indiana University Medical Center and joined the IU faculty in 1980. From 1981 to 2000, he was Chief of Pathology at the Roudebush VA Medical Center. In 1990, he was granted an MBA by Indiana University. He was appointed Chairman of the School of Medicine's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in 1999. At that time, he also was appointed Chief Pathologist of Clarian Health Partners (Methodist - IU - Riley). In 2000, he became the Nordschow Professor of Laboratory Medicine.

He served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Urologic Pathology, official journal of the International Society of Urologic Pathology, from 1997 to 2000. Dr. Eble has served three terms as Treasurer and is presently President of the International Society of Urologic Pathology. In 2001, he was made an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia.

Senior Associate Editor

Harvey M. Cramer, MD, FRCPC, received his MD from the University of Manitoba in 1980. Following a rotating internship, he trained in Anatomic Pathology at McGill University and the University of Toronto. Following residency training, Dr. Cramer completed fellowships in cytopathology at UCLA and at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. In 1991, following four years at the University of Western Ontario, he joined the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine. His practice is confined to diagnostic cytopathology and his major area of interest is fine needle aspiration cytology.

Associate Editors

David F. Hardwick, MD is Professor Emeritus of Pathology and Pediatrics at the University of British Columbia. He graduated from UBC in 1957, and pursued studies in Montreal PQ, Charlotte NC and Los Angeles CA and Vancouver in Pediatrics, Developmental Electrophysiology, Pediatric Pathology and General Pathology. Dr. Hardwick is certified in AP/CP in both Canada and USA. He has received many national and international awards and has published numerous research and book publications. Dr. Hardwick has special expertise as an acknowledged expert in laboratory direction and management.

Richard L. Kempson, MD is Professor Emeritus of Pathology at Stanford University School of Medicine. He received his MD (1955) and anatomic pathology training (1959-1962) both from Tulane University School of Medicine and was a surgical pathology fellow and then Assistant Professor of Pathology and Surgical Pathology at Washington University School of Medicine. He later moved to Stanford University Medical Center and most recently served as Professor of Pathology and the Co-Director of Surgical Pathology. Dr. Kempson's research endeavors have mainly involved gynecologic, soft tissue, and breast pathology. He has served as the President of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the Association of Directors of Anatomic and Surgical Pathology, the Arthur Purdy Stout Society, and currently is president of the California Society of Pathologists.
