Editors-in-Chief: Andreas Hochhaus, Germany Andreas Hochhaus is Head of the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology and Director of the University Tumor Center (UTC) at the Jena University Hospital, Germany. Born in 1959 in Germany, Andreas studied medicine in Leipzig and Erfurt from 1979 to 1985. He received his Dr. med. with honors and did his postgraduate medical training in Erfurt. He continued training in hematology with Rüdiger Hehlmann, at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, followed by time as a research fellow in John M. Goldman’s lab at Hammersmith Hospital, London. In 2007, he was awarded the Endowed Professorship for Leukaemia Research from the German José Carreras Leukaemia Foundation. Professor Hochhaus’ special interests include molecular monitoring of minimal residual disease and mechanisms of resistance in CML and myeloproliferative neoplasms. He is author of over 400 peer reviewed papers and is regularly invited to speak at national and international symposia. Robert Peter Gale, USA Born in New York in 1945, Robert Peter Gale received his AB with honors in biology and chemistry from Hobart College in 1966, MD from the State University of New York in 1970 and PhD in microbiology and immunology from the University of California (UCLA) in 1976. Gale has numerous prestigious appointments to his name including Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the CIBMTR, Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Center for Advanced Studies in Leukemia, President of the Armand Hammer Center for Advanced Studies in Nuclear Energy and Health, and Wald Scholar in Biomedical Communications at UCLA to name but a few. He is an editor, co-editor and/or reviewer of many scientific journals in hematology, oncology, immunology, transplantation and internal medicine. Prof. Gale is also an expert on the medical response to nuclear and radiation accidents. He has published 900 scientific articles and 22 books on a variety of medical topics. Awards for his scientific achievements include the Presidential Award, New York Academy of Sciences, Scientist of Distinction Award, Weizmann Institute of Science, Distinguished Alumni Award, Hobart College and Intra-Science Research Foundation Award. He is married with 6 children and lives between Los Angeles, Montana and New York.
