The Journal of Applied Entomology publishes articles in applied entomology, including insects, mites, spiders and myriapods in terrestrial ecosystems.

The journal particularly welcomes submissions in the following areas:

Applied biological and ecological studies of relevant arthropod species;
Insect pests and pest control, with emphasis on sustainable control methods;
Interactions between insects and plants in agroecosystems, including climate change impacts;
Field studies on the effectiveness of insecticides and ecotoxicology will be considered but not laboratory studies;
Predators, parasitoids, entomopathogenic nematodes and fungi as natural enemies;
Techniques and methods in molecular biological research as they relate to applied entomology;
Molecular methods related to insect ecology and pathology;
Insect pollinators;
Insects as resources, including for food, feed and other productive species, including studies on insect mass-rearing.
