Ecological Monographs recognizes that ecology and evolution are fundamentally linked and therefore welcomes work situated at their interface. Papers published to the journal cover a wide variety of topics and disciplines including, but not limited to, population, community, ecosystem, and macro-ecology, as well as molecular and evolutionary ecology. Work published in the journal elucidates first principles in ecology and evolution, and the ecological and evolutionary consequences of climate change, pollution, habitat modification and biological invasions.


Ecological Monographs publishes papers targeting a general audience, and clearly demonstrating the main contribution to fundamental or applied sciences and/or implications for the mitigation of pressing global environmental issues and/or general applications for knowledge users. Submitted manuscripts should be polished and written in language that is accessible to non-specialists.
