Computer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering is a scholarly peer-reviewed archival journal intended to act as a bridge between advances being made in computer technology and civil and infrastructure engineering. It provides a unique form for publication of original articles on novel computational techniques and innovative applications of computers. The journal specially focuses on recent advances in computer and information technologies and fosters the development and application of new and emerging computing paradigms and technologies.

The scope of the journal includes bridge, construction, environmental, highway, geotechnical, structural, transportation, and water resources engineering, and management of infrastructure systems such as highways, bridges, pavements, airports, and utilities. Areas covered by the journal include artificial intelligence, cognitive modeling, concurrent engineering, database management, distributed computing, evolutionary computing, fuzzy logic, genetic algorithms, geometric modeling, internet-based technologies, knowledge discovery and engineering, machine learning, mobile computing, multimedia technologies, networking, neural network computing, optimization and search, parallel processing, robotics, smart structures, software engineering, virtual reality, and visualization techniques.

About the Founder and Editor-in-Chief
HOJJAT ADELI held the Abba G. Lichtenstein Professorship at The Ohio State University for ten years. He holds Honorary/Distinguished Professorship at six Asian and European universities and an academy member in three different countries. He has authored nearly 600 research publications, including 16 ground-breaking high-technology books, since he received his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1976 at the age of 26. He has presented Keynote/Plenary Lectures at 109 conferences held in 44 different countries. He is the recipient of over 50 awards and honors including the University Distinguished Scholar Award bestowed by The Ohio State University in 1998 “in recognition of extraordinary accomplishment in research and scholarship.” In 2005 he was elected a Distinguished Member of American Society of Civil Engineers “for wide-ranging, exceptional, and pioneering contributions to computing in civil engineering and extraordinary leadership in advancing the use of computing and information technologies in many engineering disciplines throughout the world.” He received the ASCE Construction Management Award in 2006. In 2007 he received the Peter L. and Clara M. Scott Award for Excellence in Engineering Education for sustained, exceptional, and multi-faceted contributions to numerous fields including computer-aided engineering, knowledge engineering, computational intelligence, large-scale design  optimization, and smart structures with worldwide impact, and Charles E. MacQuigg Outstanding Teaching Award from The Ohio State University College of Engineering. In 2008, he was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, “for distinguished contributions to computational infrastructure engineering and for worldwide leadership in computational science and engineering.” He is also a Fellow of IEEE, the American Neurological Association, and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE). He is a recipient of Eduardo Renato Caianiello Award from the Italian Society of Neural Networks (SIREN), a Special Medal from the Polish Neural Network Society in Recognition of Outstanding Contribution to the Development of Computational Intelligence, and an Honorary Doctorate from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Lithuania.
