The Biological Journal of the Linnean Society is a direct descendant of the oldest biological journal in the world, which published the epoch-making papers on evolution by Darwin and Wallace. The Journal specializes in evolution in the broadest sense and covers all taxonomic groups in all five kingdoms. It covers all the methods used to study evolution, whether whole-organism or molecular, practical or theoretical. The Biological Journal of the Linnean Society is published online-only.

Aims & Scope
The Biological Journal of the Linnean Society is the Linnean Society’s longest standing journal. It publishes novel research of biological significance (up to a maximum of 12,000 words). Possible fields include but are not limited to: evolutionary, ecology, palaeontology, genetics, genomics, and cell, conservation, developmental, molecular, organismal, and systems biology. We are especially keen to encourage submissions on the impact of contemporary climate change on biodiversity and its evolution and that promote the Linnean Society’s vision of understanding, valuing, and protecting nature. The Biological Journal succeeded (in 1969) the Proceedings of the Society, the journal in which Darwin and Wallace published their seminal papers in 1858.
