The Journal of Zoology publishes high-quality, original research on animals. Subject areas include but are not limited to ecology, animal behaviour, anatomy, developmental biology, evolution, genetics, genomics, morphology and physiology. The Editors encourage the submission of hypothesis-driven research papers that advance our understanding of animals and their systems. Multidisciplinary papers that embrace multiple areas of the above are also encouraged.

We welcome reviews and perspectives articles on subjects that are timely or of broad interest. We also invite proposals for special issues and mini-series dedicated to a specific topic, that are overseen by a guest editor. Proposals for reviews, special issues and mini-series should be emailed to JZO.admin@zsl.org.
