Angelo Izzo is a full professor (Pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacognosy) at the Department of Pharmacy, School of Medicine and Surgery, University of Naples Federico II. Rajan Radhakrishnan is a full professor of pharmacology at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University in Dubai, and a licensed pharmacist in the USA. He has more than 20 years of combined experience in pharmacology teaching, research, and academic administration.

Francesca Borrelli is Associate Professor ( Pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacognosy) at the Department of Pharmacy, School of Medicine and Surgery, University of Naples Federico II. During her scientific carrier, she spent a research period at the Department of Surgery, King's College Hospital Medical School, London, UK (October 1998-June 1999), at the Department of Complementary Medicine, University of Exeter (Devon), UK (July 2001-December 2001) and at the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, Medical University of Lubeck, Germany (June 2004-August 2004). She is an editorial board member of prestigious international journals (i.e. British Journal of Pharmacology, Plos One and Evidence-Based Complementary And Alternative Medicine).
Borrelli's research work is focused on the therapeutic relevance of plant-derived compounds in GI diseases (IBD, cancer, etc.) and on the signal transduction mechanisms involved in their action. Moreover, clinical pharmacology and toxicological aspects of nutraceuticals through the execution of systematic reviews and meta-analyses are also included in her research interest. She has published over 128 peer-reviewed papers (cited in JCI, h-index 45).

Claudia Anesini is a full time Adjunct Professor of Phytotherapy and Pharmacognosy, Department of Pharmacology, School of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, University of Buenos Aires and Independent Researcher from Instituto de Química y Metabolismo del Fármaco (Institute for Drug Chemistry and Metabolism, IQUIMEFA, National Research Council, CONICET). Since she graduated in Pharmacy and Biochemistry in 1986 from Buenos Aires University, she has devoted herself to studying the phytochemical composition and pharmacology of medicinal plants (pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics).
Since then, she has published 91 papers in international and national journals (with 70 of them having been cited 1277 times, with a h index of 19, Scopus, June 2018). She has authored 9 book chapters and has 4 transferred patents and is also the author of 117 presentations in international and national scientific meetings. She has directed post-doctoral and doctoral fellowships from UBA and CONICET. Dr Randolph Arroo is currently Reader in Phytochemistry. He graduated in Biology, and obtained an MSc in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of Utrecht (Netherlands) in 1985. Next, he worked as a Research Fellow at the Dutch Institute of Applied Research (TNO), department of Biotechnology. It was here that he first came to work on Plant Cell Cultures for the production of Medicinal Compounds. Further work on Plant Cell Cultures and plant Biotechnology was then done as a PhD-project at the University of Nijmegen (Netherlands), resulting in a PhD-degree in 1994.
He started in 1995 as a post-doc at De Montfort University, and quickly established himself as an independent researcher and lecturer. With financial support from the European Commission’s Framework Programme, and the British Ministry of Agriculture, he managed to establish the Natural products Research group with the Leicester School of Pharmacy. His research interests are in the chemopreventive properties of natural products, notably natural products that are part of the human diet. Dr Arroo is on the editorial boards of Phytotherapy Research, Phytochemical Analysis, and Phytochemistry Letters. In addition, he is an active committee member of the Phytochemical Society of Europe.

Kaleab Asres is a Professor in the School of Pharmacy at Addis Ababa University where he has been a faculty member since 1980. He completed his PhD at the University of London and undergraduate studies at Addis Ababa University. Kaleab’s research interests lie in the area of Pharmacognosy ranging from structure elucidation of natural products to bioactivity testing of Ethiopian medicinal plants traditionally used for treatment of tropical diseases including malaria, leishmaniasis and trypanosomiasis. He has published over 170 research articles and was the most downloaded researcher in Ethiopia (ResearchGate, August 2015).
Kaleab has collaborated actively with researchers in UK (University of London), Germany (Heidelberg and Martin Luther Universities), Austria (University of Graz), and India (Kakatiya University). Thomas Brendler’s consultancy business PlantaPhile® is based in the US, Germany, and the UK. It focuses on all aspects of herbal product development, registration and licensing. For the last 26 years, he has developed and managed projects for industry on the use of plants in medicine, food and cosmetics. As a consultant to the Millennium Challenge Corporation, the Centre for Development of Enterprise and the International Trade Centre he has been involved in the preparation, management and execution of various public funded research projects. In 2005, Dr Brendler co-founded the Association of African Medicinal Plants Standards and served as one of its directors until 2018.
He is the editor-in-chief of the AAMPS African Herbal Pharmacopoeia. Kenneth Broadley is Honorary Professor of Pharmacology at the Cardiff School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cardiff University. Banasri Hazra served as Research Scientist (Professor Grade) at the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Kolkata, under the aegis of the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, until her retirement in 2016. Since 1980, he has served as Principal Investigator of many projects supported by both the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) and private industry.
Currently, Prof. Kinghorn is Principal Investigator of a program project award from the U.S. National Cancer Institute, NIH, entitled “Discovery of Anticancer Agents of Diverse Natural Origin” (P01CA125066; 2007-2019). He is the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Natural Products (1994-present) and of the book series “Progress in the Chemistry of Organic Natural Products” (Springer International; 2008-present). Prof. Monique Simmonds (OBE, BSC, PhD, DSc, FLS, FBS, FRES, FWIF), is Deputy Director of Science, at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and is Director of the Commercial Phytochemistry Unit. She has over 30 years’ experience of research into different aspects of plant and fungal chemistry with an emphasis on the economic value of natural products, including quality control of medicinal plants (especially those used in traditional Chinese medicine) and insect-plant interactions. Her current research is on the economic uses of plants/fungi, in particular their potential as pharmaceutical leads, especially anti-biotics, as well as uses in over–the-counter products such as cosmetics. This involves studying the chemistry of plants and fungi, the biological activities of extracts and isolated compounds, and using the new DNA based phylogenies to assist the selection of species that could contain compounds for the creation of new cosmetics. In many cases this involves studying what compounds help the plant protect themselves from UV damage, oxidative and water stress and using this knowledge to identify plant compounds that could provide a similar type of protection in human skin. Prof. Simmonds is also interested in the development of chemical and DNA authentication methods to check the quality of plant-derived products being sold as medicines, cosmetics and functional foods. She has over 370 publications and has co-authored patent for compounds in the area of malaria, cancer, pest control, cosmetics and has been involved in getting food, medicinal and cosmetic products to market. Her commercial focused research aims to increase the diversity of plants entering the trade and supporting human wellbeing through illustrating the economical importance of plants and fungal diversity. Prof. Simmonds is keen to improve our understanding of how plant chemistry influences different aspects of our wellbeing and helping to ensure the publication of medicinal plant research papers is paramount.

The main theme of his research is directed towards understanding the mechanisms that underlie the cellular and molecular basis of cancer and evaluating novel anti-cancer agents against various types of cancers. Colin Wright is Professor of Pharmacognosy at the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, University of Bradford. After training in Pharmacy at the School of Pharmacy, University of London he started his career as a hospital pharmacist. Whilst working in a mission hospital in India he developed interests in traditional medicine and tropical diseases and returned to the School of Pharmacy, University of London to investigate antiamoebic and antimalarial natural products and received his Ph.D in 1989. Robert Sewell is a full Professor (Neuropharmacology) at the Cardiff School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Cardiff. He graduated in pharmacy and after a period in clinical practice, he undertook a PhD in neuropharmacology studying opioid receptor classification, analgesia and dependence at the University of Wales. He then spent research collaborative periods at the University of Calgary Medical School, University of Cádiz Medical School and René Descartes University, Paris. He has always had an interest in phytotherapy, particularly in the treatment of drug addiction and neuropathic pain.

Dr. R.C. Srimal, born on 10th January, 1937 in Lucknow (India) is now emeritus scientist. He is a medical graduate and Post-graduate (MD, Pharmacology) of King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow. His research career started in the Department of Pharmacology, KGMU in 1960. He continued it at the Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), Lucknow. After over 27 years at CDRI, he joined the Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (IITR) Lucknow as Director in 1993. At CDRI he started as a Scientist and later headed the Divisions of Pharmacology as well as Clinical & Experimental Medicine. After retiring as Director IITR in 1997, he was Emeritus Scientist (CSIR) at the same Institute. He has authored 240 Research Papers, 241 Scientific Research Reports, edited 4 Scientific Books and wrote 34 Reviews. He holds 35 Indian and 2 International patents.
