Journal of Applied Animal Research is a fully open access journal that publishes articles on animal production. In addition, the Journal of Applied Animal Research includes research on fundamental aspects of animal genetics, nutrition, physiology, reproduction, immunology, pathology and animal products.

Journal of Applied Animal Research publishes original research on:

    Cows and dairy cattle
    Small ruminants
    Pigs and other farm animals
    Horses and companion animals
    Aquatic and wildlife species

Manuscripts involving research on other species that is directly related to animal production are also considered for publication. However, the journal does not consider submissions related to the fur industry or whaling.

The journal publishes original research articles, reviews and short communications.

Journal of Applied Animal Research operates a double-anonymized peer review policy.

All articles are made freely and permanently available online through gold open access publication.
